以上方的結構為例，在 mis 部門下有一位 bestlong 在 LDAP 的表示法：

  cn=bestlong,ou=mis,ou=unit,ou=company,dc=bestlong,dc=idv,dc=tw


設定
  shell> cd /var/lib/ldap
  shell> cp /usr/share/doc/openldap-servers-2.4.10/DB_CONFIG.example DB_CONFIG
  shell> vim /etc/ldap.conf
  
啟動 LDAP 服務
  shell> service ldap start
